This four-year series teaches most of the stories of the Bible somewhat chronologically. Many of the lessons show the character of God and His attributes, man's need for a savior, God's provision of a loving Savior through the Lord Jesus, and other basic teachings. There are some character quality lessons and some doctrine lessons here and there, which serve a good purpose but which interrupt the chronological flow of the lessons. Book 1: Laying Strong Foundations Stories from the book of Genesis provide a solid foundation as they introduce children to our Almighty, loving and eternal God. The story of Creation teaches children that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and loving. The lives of Abraham and the other patriarchs show how we can know God through faith. Also included are lessons on prayer, forgiveness, and creativity. The book concludes with a unit on why Jesus came, designed to be used before Christmas. Book 2: Following in Jesus’ Footsteps Stories of Jesus’ early years through the middle of His ministry introduce children to Jesus as God the Son, our Saviour and Friend. Children learn the excitement of following Jesus today as they see how to apply these truths to their own lives. Stories from other parts of the Old and New Testament introduce prayer, the plan of salvation, and how to become God’s child. Book 3: Finding God’s Handprints Just like handprints show someone’s identity, God’s actions teach us about Himself. As the children hear these stories of Moses’ birth through to the Exile of God’s people from their land, they will come to know God better. Their own lives will change as they understand God’s holiness, faithfulness to His promises, and His unchanging love. Book 4: Building God’s Way Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven help children to appreciate the wonder and greatness of God’s plan of salvation for the world and His love for “me.” Children will see how to build their own walk with God as they hear stories from the book of Acts telling how God used His servants to build His Church. |
